Where to begin?

Hello one and all,

So here I am writing my very first post on Izzy’s Inkwell and I’m wondering how to begin. Let me tell you that thinking about what to write is way more interesting than the horror film I’m trying to watch at the same time (I have no idea what its about anymore or what’s happening!). I guess I can start off by saying that reading books has been a lifelong passion of mine. I loved reading as a child and I can remember reading for the first time in my head (sadly I don’t remember what book I was reading). My favourite childhood books range from The Famous Five, Goosebumps, Point Horror to Harry Potter amongst many more. As I entered my late teens and headed off to university I found myself losing my grip on all the things I love about reading books (that’s what being told what to read by certain university type people did to me). Fortunately I rediscovered my love of reading upon graduating but this passion of mine is often something I struggle to do because of my health issues (migraines, anxiety and depression). I try to remember to be grateful for the moments when I do get the motivation to read and I do feel that I’m starting to rediscover the love that I have for the written word all over again. I currently read a lot of YA fiction but I also enjoy adult fiction (hello Stephen King) and I’m starting to carve a path in the mountain of classics that I would like to read. I won’t take up too much of your time so let me thank you for taking the time to check out my blog. It means a lot to me.

I ‘ll sign off with a quote from one of my most favourite authors, a man I am lucky enough to share a birthday with:

“Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make!” – Bram Stoker

Happy reading!

– Izzy (or Liz if you prefer)
